Electrical Stimulation Therapy

Electrical stimulation is one of the most established tools in physical therapy—used alongside hands-on treatment and exercise to calm pain, reduce swelling, and help weakened muscles fire again after injury or surgery.

At Kinetic Physical Therapy of Naples, we use electrical stimulation as a targeted piece of a larger treatment plan, not a standalone fix.

How It Works

Electrical stimulation delivers a mild electrical current through electrodes placed on the skin near the treatment area. Depending on the type and settings used, it can:

Interrupt pain signals for short-term relief

Reduce swelling and inflammation

Trigger a muscle contraction to help reactivate muscles that have weakened from injury, surgery, or inactivity.

Support circulation to the treated area

Electrical stimulation is used as an adjunct to hands-on therapy and exercise, not a replacement for either. Individual results vary.

What to Expect

Electrical stimulation is typically applied during your regular treatment session—you'll feel a mild tingling or muscle twitch, not pain. Sessions run alongside manual therapy and exercise, usually adding just a few minutes to your visit.

Why Kinetic PT Uses Electrical Stimulation

It's a low-risk, well-established way to manage pain and reactivate muscle in the early stages of recovery, so you can participate more fully in the strengthening work that actually rebuilds function.
